Prism

An N-sided prism with a configurable number of sides and independent bevel and cap rounding. Supports 3, 5, 6, and 8-sided cross-sections.

Basic Usage

  1. Shift+A > Chisel > Prism or use the Pie Menu
  2. Scale to set overall size
  3. Set Sides to choose the cross-section shape (triangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon)
  4. Click the arrow button next to Angle to open the Set Prism Shape dialog (3-sided only)
  5. Adjust Bevel and Cap Rounding independently for edge control

Parameters

Sides

  • Description: Number of sides for the prism cross-section
  • Options: 3 / 5 / 6 / 8
  • Default: 6
  • Effect: 3 = triangle, 5 = pentagon, 6 = hexagon, 8 = octagon

Angle (3-sided only)

  • Description: Apex angle of the triangular cross-section
  • Range: 5.0 to 175.0
  • Default: 60.0 (equilateral triangle)
  • Effect: Changing the angle automatically adjusts the base width to match

Set Prism Shape Dialog (3-sided only)

Click the arrow button next to the Angle display to open a dialog with two modes:

Mode Inputs Derived
Angle + Height Angle, Height Base is calculated
Height + Base Height, Base Angle is calculated

This lets you define the exact triangle cross-section by specifying whichever pair of values is most convenient.

Half-Extents

  • Description: Bounding dimensions of the cross-section and extrusion depth
  • Effect: Derived from object scale; updated automatically when angle/height/base change

Bevel

  • Description: Rounding radius on the vertical (side) edges of the prism
  • Range: 0.0 to 10.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Effect: Smooths the side edges running along the extrusion direction

Cap Rounding

  • Description: Rounding radius on the top and bottom cap edges
  • Range: 0.0 to 10.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Effect: Smooths the edges where the flat caps meet the sides

Bevel Profile

  • Options: Round / Sharp / Soft / Tight / Chamfer
  • Default: Round
  • Effect: Profile shape for the vertical edge bevel

Bevel Smooth

  • Description: Rounds the sharp edges where bevel chamfer meets the faces
  • Range: 0.0 to 5.0 (soft max 0.5)
  • Default: 0.0
  • Effect: Only applies when Bevel Profile is set to Chamfer

Profile

  • Options: Round / Sharp / Soft / Tight / Chamfer
  • Default: Round
  • Effect: Profile shape for the cap rounding

Chamfer Smooth

  • Description: Rounds the sharp edges where cap chamfer meets the faces
  • Range: 0.0 to 5.0 (soft max 0.5)
  • Default: 0.0
  • Effect: Only applies when Profile is set to Chamfer
